About Araba G. Jean-Sylvestre
Higher Education Diploma (DESS or BAC+5) in Business Law and Taxation from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin as well as a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Sciences and Techniques from theCatholicUniversityofCentralAfrica(UCAC)inYaoundé.
With over twenty-two years of professional experience, including roles as a Management Controller, Auditor, Accountant, and Quality Manager, I am currently a consultant specializing in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC). For more than five years, I have been conducting ISO certification training and audit missions.
I have earned 27 ISO certifications from reputable organizations, providing a comprehensive understanding of audit missions. This extensive experience equips me with the skills needed to audit various organizational processes effectively.
Jean-Sylvestre's experience in auditing
During certification audits, it happens that clients’ express concerns about the results, despite acknowledging the findings during the closing meeting. In these cases, I involve representatives of the certification body to ensure their concerns are addressed. This way, we ensure the clients understand the reasoning behind the findings and the steps required for resolution.
What I particularly enjoy about audits is the focus on both vertical and horizontal auditing. This approach allows me to trace the audit trail, ensuring compliance with requirements across multiple activities within a process, as well as across interconnected processes. It not only provides a deeper understanding of the company’s operations but also enables me to conduct thorough, in-depth checks that add significant value to the organization.
My goal is to specialize in complex audits across at least three standards: Corporate Governance, Information Security, and QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
