Orlando Odejide

Life is primarily about value. The value we provide to various stakeholders, and we cannot give what we do not have as individuals and professionals.

I believe an organization is only as good as its appropriate adoption and use of ISO Standards (ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22301, and others) and Best Practices (NIST CSF, COBIT, CMMI, and others) to ensure optimal achievement of its objectives.

About Orlando Odejide

Currently, I serve as the Managing Partner of A4S (Audit, Advisory, Assurance, and Assessment Services) and an international expert in Business and IT Management for organizations.

With over 23 years of experience in Computing, Information Technology Delivery, and Management Consulting, I am an ISO Management Systems Auditor, Governance, Risk and Compliance Auditor, Enterprise Architect, Programme Director, and Trainer.

I hold a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering, an MBA, and a PhD in Management Information Systems and Information Security. Additionally, I am an MSECB Certified Auditor for various ISO Standards.

Moreover, I have an excellent technical background and have successfully delivered Programme/Project Management, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Cybersecurity, IT Service Management, IT Assurance, Business Advisory, and System Integration projects within various industry sectors.

About the experience in auditing

""

I audit standards every week of the year, including ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management System – ISMS), ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management System – BCMS), ISO/IEC 20000-1 (Service Management System – SMS) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management System – QMS).

Other ISO standards I also review are the likes that clients have adopted, including ISO 27032 (Cybersecurity Guidelines), ISO 31000 (Risk Management Guidelines), and others.

The big challenge with management systems audit is a clear understanding of the intent and the purpose of the clauses and controls of the various standards.

Sometimes, clients and consultants do not have a deep understanding of the requirements of the standards, which will only come from knowledge, skills, and practical experience in the use of ISO standard guidelines like ISO 27002, ISO 22313, ISO 20000-2, ISO 9004, and best practice frameworks like NIST CSF for Cybersecurity, ITIL for IT Service Management, COBIT for Business and IT Governance and others. These guidance documents are different from just knowing and implementing the requirements of documents only. Instead, they provide the overall view of what organizations should do to meet the requirements.

The most exciting part of an audit is seeing the various ways and approaches by which clients have implemented and adopted the ISO standards to fit their specific environments. We look at AWS or Azure Platforms and implementations of SIEM, PAM, DLP ATP, and other systems used to implement the requirements of the ISO standards, and this gives me a broad view of various systems. I also use the audit sessions to ensure the client truly understands the value and importance of the requirements of numerous standards.

My goal is to ensure more clients in various industries, especially across Africa at large, appropriately adopt ISO standards and ensure they get optimal business benefits from the adoption of these ISO standards to ensure their organizational objectives are achieved.

Orlando's experience with MSECB

I have been working with MSECB since the organization was still PECB MS, and it has been a wonderful experience over the past eight years.

The MSECB approach is excellent from the initiation to the end of the process. Filling out the application forms for due diligence and getting the content, scope, and other details right ensures that the audit is conducted correctly and concluded on time and with quality. Also, working on an audit plan and getting it approved before proceeding with the audit.

MSECB is one of the few certification bodies that provide detailed quality assurance on the reports being shared by us auditors. This is essential in bringing a high level of report structure, format, and content. It ensures the correctness and completeness of the audit report before they are shared with the client.

The MESCB certificate is elegant, uncluttered, and visually appealing. It is an excellent gesture from MSECB to share the soft temporary copies of the certificates with the clients directly and ship physical copies worldwide. Although they are not obliged to send physical copies globally, it shows their commitment to offering exceptional service.

Communication with the MSECB team (Nick, Dren, Esat, and others) is seamless, ensuring the relationship between our organizations, A4S, and MSECB benefits both parties.

I am definitely working with MSECB in the future to help and support more organizations and territories.
