My name is Sylvain Viau and I have over 40 years of experience in information security, communication, physical security systems, governance, architecture, auditing, investigations, and anti-bribery.
I currently work as an independent senior advisor on information security, compliance, and strategic security planning for world-class corporations.
Throughout my career, I have gained several certi cations, including ISACA International, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, ISO 22301, ISO 28000, ISO 37001, and ISO/IEC 27001 Master. I retired from the Canadian Army in 2015 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as the senior communication advisor to National Director of Signals with over 37 years of experience in military communication.

I am also the founder of the DSI Group (Division – Security International), regrouping more than 12 security corporations providing integrated security solutions.
About your experience in auditing in general
Being an ISO/IEC 27001 certified auditor since 2003, with time I acquired several professional qualifications (PECB ISO 22301, ISO 28000, ISO 37000, and ISO/IEC 27001 Master and ISACA International, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC). My certifications allowed me to audit organizations like DHS, PMO, the Parliament Hill, and several of the top Fortune 500 corporations. Today, in addition to my audit practice, I also provide internal audits, consultation on implementation, and VCISO services.
Auditing may look simple and easy, but it requires a good and factual understanding of the environment being audited, the scope, and the requirements against which a management system is being audited.
