An MS Auditor is a person who conducts an audit (ISO 9000:2015, 3.13.15), which is a systematic, independent and documented process for obtaining objective evidence and evaluating it objectively to determine the extent to which the audit criteria are fulfilled (ISO 19011:2018, 3.1).
MS Auditors are responsible to evaluate the compliance of an organization towards an ISO standard or to check if an organization’s management system is in conformity with the ISO standard requirements.

How to become a Management Systems Auditor?

As the first and very important step that you should take is the completion of a Lead Auditor Training Course. It can be for example an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor Training Course, however, it is important to know that as you grow in this career, you can also choose more than one Lead Auditor Certificate and audit in more than just one field.
The objective of the Lead Auditor Training Course is to offer an in depth understanding of ISO management system standards by applying widely recognized audit principles, procedures and techniques.
After you complete the training course, you need to get involved in as many internal or external audits as possible. This involvement, which initially will be in the role of an observer and/or trainee auditor, will help you to gain necessary auditing skills and a better understanding of auditing and the certification bodies’ processes.
